Two big announcements today. I’m revealing the secret behind the perfect avocado toast and how I just became brand ambassador. Believe it or not, but the two are linked!
Announcement: new brand ambassador!
Let’s start with the second news first. I have been keeping it for myself for a little while now and I couldn’t wait to share the news with you. So without further ado, I’m delighted to announce that I’m officially the Brand Ambassador for Peugeot Saveurs!
Now it’s important for me to be entirely transparent about this partnership. So let me tell you a little bit more about it. As you might have noticed, I seldom partner with brands. The main reason is that I want to make sure they are aligned with my personal values. As a blogger, I refuse to promote products I do not personally believe in. The whole idea of this blog is to get you into cooking using natural, high quality ingredients exclusively, not to spam you with over-hyped products you don’t need in your life.
Also, it really matters to me that we keep this trust-relationship we have been building together over the years. This is why I want you to know that I would not accept a partnership just because there is money involved. As a full-time blogger, I can choose carefully who I really want to work with. And for the record, don’t think it all happened overnight. I may now be able to make a living from the blog but it took years of effort and endless sacrifices along the way.
Anyway, in a world where more and more bloggers just sell themselves to the first companies that reach out to them, I found it necessary to remind all this before talking about my partnership with Peugeot Saveurs.
Who is Peugeot Saveurs?
I have been working together with Peugeot Saveurs on various projects both in the US and in France for over a year now, using many of their products along the way. It’s a brand I truly respect in many ways.
First of all, I myself (and my husband, David) literally fell in love with their high quality spices and beautiful products. From the salt and pepper mills to their coffee grinders, cutlery, and ceramic cookware, there is a lot to explore. Then, and I think this is very important nowadays, more than just working with products, I have developed an amazing human relationship with the team and it’s nothing but fun working together.
Peugeot Saveurs is a 200-year-old company and one of the most iconic French brands. It all started at the turn of the 19th century when two Peugeot brothers converted the mill inherited from their ancestors into a steel mill. Since then, Peugeot mills have been an essential benchmark for gourmets and great chefs alike. Peugeot Saveurs is still owned by the Peugeot family today (the same family behind the cars).
The secret to the perfect avocado toast
Now you might wonder how all of this brought me to this avocado toast! Let me tell you straight away: it’s a matter of seasoning. To be honest with you, I think I never noticed the importance of choosing “high quality” when it came to salt and pepper before. To me, salt was salt, and pepper was pepper. That was it.
But when I discovered Peugeot products last year, it introduced my palate to a whole new world of flavors. Pairing them with the right ingredients can elevate the most simple recipe to a five-star dish. The avocado toast is indeed the perfect example in this matter. Try to season it with regular salt and pepper, and it tastes bland. You need something special to spice it up a notch.
Use the following spices to master the avocado toast every single time
- Timut Wild Pepper from Nepal (I use this one)
- Persian Blue Salt from Iran (I use this one)
- Pili Pili from Malawi (I use this one)
Timut pepper’s zesty flavors combined with the intense saline flavor and strong profile of blue salt produce astonishing citrus notes in your avocado toast. Freshly ground pili pili will add an additional kick to your avocado toast. That’s pretty much it. Whether you serve it plain on a slice of bread or add a poached egg to it, make sure the seasoning is right.

- 1 slice of bread
- 1/2 avocado, stoned and peeled
- Lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- Extra virgin olive oil (optional)
- Persian blue salt, freshly ground
- Timut wild pepper, freshly ground
- Pili Pili, freshly ground
- Mash the avocado with a fork. Add the lemon juice, olive oil, adjusting the quantity according to your own tastes. Mix well.
- Spread over the slice of bread (plain or toasted).
- Season with freshly ground blue salt, Timut pepper and pili pili. Enjoy!
