Un an et 92 recettes sur le blog !<\/h3>\n<p>Eh oui, j&#8217;ai compt\u00e9. Depuis le jour o\u00f9 j&#8217;ai mis le pied en Su\u00e8de jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 aujourd&#8217;hui, j&#8217;ai publi\u00e9 92 recettes sur le blog. Toutes sont disponibles en anglais et en francais (deux fois plus de travail, croyez-moi). Et je ne compte pas ici toutes les autres recettes test\u00e9es en amont, celles en attente d&#8217;\u00eatre publi\u00e9es, et bien s\u00fbr mes \u00e9pisodes de ma vie de foodie \u00e0 Chicago, la r\u00e9daction de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delscookingtwist.com\/fr\/cookbook\/\">mon e-book<\/a> en bilingue anglais-francais, etc. Ce sont autant de recettes mises en sc\u00e8ne, prises en photos, soigneusement s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9es et \u00e9dit\u00e9es. Ne nous mentons pas, il s&#8217;agit de beaucoup de travail et d&#8217;inombrables heures pass\u00e9es en cuisine, derri\u00e8re mon appareil ou mon pc. Mais quand je vois le r\u00e9sultat, et le plaisir de vous voir de plus en plus nombreux \u00e0 tester mes recettes, c&#8217;est pour moi un immense plaisir !<\/p>\n<h3>2. Doughnuts, doughnuts, doughnuts!<\/h3>\n<p>Je suis un bec sucr\u00e9, c&#8217;est plus fort que moi. Durant les 12 derniers mois, j&#8217;ai test\u00e9 et noter de tr\u00e8s nombreuses boutiques de doughnuts \u00e0 Chicago. Le nouveau doughnut est hipster et n&#8217;a presque rien \u00e0 voir avec la junk food. Mon mafasin de doughnuts pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 Chicago est <a href=\"https:\/\/firecakesdonuts.com\/\">Firecakes<\/a>, suivi de pr\u00e8s par <a href=\"http:\/\/doughnutvault.com\/\">Doughnut Vault<\/a>. J&#8217;ai une pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence pour le old-fashioned, qui est cuit plut\u00f4t que frit, avec une texture qui s&#8217;apparente davantage \u00e0 un g\u00e2teau, et je raffole du <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delscookingtwist.com\/fr\/2017\/01\/27\/glazed-orange-poppy-seed-donuts\/\">doughnut \u00e0 l&#8217;orange et aux graines de pavot<\/a>, pour lequel j&#8217;ai r\u00e9alis\u00e9 ma propre version pour le blog. Mes bonnes adresses de restau \u00e0 Chicago<\/h3>\n<p>\u00c9tonnamment, je n&#8217;ai pas encore test\u00e9 beaucoup de restaurants \u00e0 Chicago. C&#8217;est bien dommage, lorsqu&#8217;on sait que Chicago ne compte pas moins de 26 restaurants \u00e9toil\u00e9s, et de nombreux autres tr\u00e8s bons et plus abordables. Voici qui n&#8217;est pas vraiment ce que vous avez en t\u00eate lorsque vous pensez aux \u00c9tats Unis. Ne me m\u00e9prenez pas, on peut aussi tr\u00e8s mal manger aux US, mais si on est foodie dans l&#8217;\u00e2me, il y a de quoi se faire plaisir \u00e0 Chicago !<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>J&#8217;ai list\u00e9 ici quelques unes de mes adresses de restaurants pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9s \u00e0 Chicago, en tenant compte de mes go\u00fbts personnels (cuisine fusion, sucr\u00e9e-sal\u00e9e, servie dans de petites portions) :\u00a0True Food Kitchen, une cha\u00eene haut de gamme qui se veut \u00e9co-chic, proposant des plats sains, y compris vegan ; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelittlebeettable.com\/chicago\/\">The Little Beet Table<\/a>, un concept similaire mais dans un cadre plus formel que le premier ; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotchocolatechicago.com\/hchome\/\">Mindy&#8217;s Hot Chocolate<\/a>, qui propose le meilleur chocolat chaud de la ville (\u00e0 tester : leur chocolat chaud avec du fudge &#8211; orgasmique !) ; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heislerhospitality.com\/bad-hunter\/\">Bad Hunter<\/a>, un restaurant ax\u00e9 sur une cuisine cr\u00e9ative mettant en valeur les l\u00e9gumes (avec en plus du menu classique un menu enti\u00e8rement vegan mis \u00e0 disposition) ; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruxbinchicago.com\/cgi-sys\/suspendedpage.cgi\">Ruxbin<\/a>, un restaurant plut\u00f4t haut de gamme proposant un menu \u00e9cl\u00e9ctique aux influences modernes ; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bokachicago.com\/\">Boka<\/a>, un restaurant avec une \u00e9toile Michelin proposant une cuisine am\u00e9ricaine cr\u00e9ative et \u00e9l\u00e9gante ; <a href=\"http:\/\/duckduckgoatchicago.com\/\">Duck Duck Goat<\/a>, une cuisine m\u00ealant fusion et influence chinoises dans un restaurant tenu par la c\u00e9l\u00e9brit\u00e9 am\u00e9ricaine Stephanie Izard ; et bien s\u00fbr un classique dont on ne se lasse pas\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eataly.com\/us_en\/stores\/chicago\/\">Eataly<\/a>, une excellente adresse pour manger italien mais aussi pour se procurer du fromage, du pain et de la charcuterie de qualit\u00e9. Et vous, quels sont vos restaurants pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9s \u00e0 Chicago ? N&#8217;h\u00e9sitez pas \u00e0 partager vos bons plans avec moi !<\/p>\n<h3>4. La cuisine mexicaine est partout !<\/h3>\n<p>Vous vous croyiez \u00e0 Chicago aux \u00c9tats Unis ? Et pourtant, vous avez aussi un pied au Mexique, et notamment lorsque vous vivez comme moi dans un quartier assez latino. Tout autour de chez moi, il y a des dizaines de restaurants mexicains, et le supermarch\u00e9 le plus proche (Mariano&#8217;s en l&#8217;occurrence) regorge de produits mexicains : des tortillas du guacamole fra\u00eechement pr\u00e9par\u00e9 devant vous au quotidien, des dizaines de tacos diff\u00e9rents. Tous ces produits sont devenus tr\u00e8s communs aux US, au point d&#8217;int\u00e9grer la culture culinaire am\u00e9ricaine. J&#8217;ai test\u00e9 de nombreuses adresses de restaurants mexicains et pour le moment ma pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence va \u00e0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rickbayless.com\/restaurants\/xoco\/\">Xoco<\/a>, aussi parce qu&#8217;ils ont de d\u00e9licieux churros \u00e0 tremper dans une sauce au chocolat chaud des plus gourmandes. Mes 10 commandements au supermarch\u00e9<\/h3>\n<p>Ceci devrait faire l&#8217;objet d&#8217;un article s\u00e9par\u00e9, il y a tant \u00e0 raconter ! Lorsque j&#8217;ai emm\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 Chicago depuis Stockholm, il m&#8217;a fallu adopter de nouvelles habitudes culinaires lorsque je faisais mes courses, et cela m&#8217;a pris un peu de temps. Plus que jamais j&#8217;ai fait attention aux \u00e9tiquettes et me suis orient\u00e9e vers du bio de mani\u00e8re presque exclusive (ce n&#8217;est pas toujours compl\u00e8tement possible).<\/p>\n<p>Sans plus attendre, voici mes 10 commandements au supermarch\u00e9 :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>R\u00e8gle \u2116 1 : acheter bio d\u00e8s que possible <\/strong>(oui, c&#8217;est un budget, mais votre sant\u00e9 en vaut tr\u00e8s largement la peine) ;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>R\u00e8gle \u2116 2: privil\u00e9gier les ingr\u00e9dients pr\u00e9par\u00e9s localement <\/strong>(\u00e0 noter que cela ne donne pas d&#8217;indice sur l&#8217;utilisation de pesticides) \u00a0;<\/li>\n<li><strong>R\u00e8gle \u2116 3: toujours opter pour des produits garantis sans OGM <\/strong>(attention toutefois, il existe un vrai marketing autour de l&#8217;utilisation du label &#8220;sans OGM&#8221;, souvent utilis\u00e9 comme une sorte de substitut au label &#8220;bio&#8221;, mettant en valeur la qualit\u00e9 des produits) ;<\/li>\n<li><strong>R\u00e8gle \u2116 4: choisir des produits laitiers (lait et beurre) et oeufs frais et bio.<\/strong>\u00a0Pour les oeufs, privil\u00e9gier ceux qui proviennent de poules \u00e9lev\u00e9es \u00e0 l&#8217;air libre et de Grade A ;<\/li>\n<li><strong>R\u00e8gle \u2116 5: toujours choisir de la viande &#8220;sans antibiotique&#8221; <\/strong>(un label qui fait peur et qu&#8217;il est pourtant important de conna\u00eetre&#8230;)\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li><strong>R\u00e8gle \u2116 6: choisir des ingr\u00e9dients naturels et non transform\u00e9s<\/strong>, et faire de cela une v\u00e9ritable r\u00e8gle de vie (ex: acheter des flocons d&#8217;avoine au naturel, en essayant de ne pas se laisser berner par les dizaines d&#8217;autres paquets aux saveurs artificielles et bourr\u00e9s de sucres inutiles)\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li><strong>R\u00e8gle \u2116 #7: acheter de la levure &#8220;sans aluminium&#8221; !<\/strong> Oui, vous m&#8217;avez bien lue, il y a de l&#8217;aluminium dans certains pots de levure. L\u00e0 encore, voici une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 tr\u00e8s effrayante !<\/li>\n<li><strong>R\u00e8gle \u2116 8: choisir des ingr\u00e9dients de saison, bios et produits localement<\/strong> (j&#8217;enfonce des portes ouvertes ici, mais il est toujours bon de le rappeler) ;<\/li>\n<li><strong>R\u00e8gle \u2116 9: \u00e9viter d&#8217;acheter des pr\u00e9parations pour g\u00e2teaux<\/strong>, cookies ou autres garitures de tartes. Rien de naturel dans tout cela !<\/li>\n<li><strong>R\u00e8gle \u2116 10: ne c\u00e9dez pas \u00e0 la tentation des g\u00e2teaux fluos<\/strong>, bourr\u00e9s de colorants, de sucres et de gras. Apprenez plut\u00f4t \u00e0 faire vos g\u00e2teaux maison. S&#8217;habituer aux mesures am\u00e9ricaines<\/h3>\n<p>On y pense pas forc\u00e9ment, mais lorsque l&#8217;on d\u00e9m\u00e9nage d&#8217;Europe aux US, le quotidien en cuisine est affect\u00e9 par de nombreux petits d\u00e9tails auxquels il faut s&#8217;habituer. Ici on compte en cups (tasses) et pas en grammes comme en France ou en d\u00e9cilitres comme en Su\u00e8de, et les temp\u00e9ratures du four sont en Fahrenheit, ce qui fait faire un peu de gymnastique au cerveau avant de s&#8217;habituer. J&#8217;ai de la chance, cela n&#8217;a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 trop difficile pour moi, r\u00e9digeant d\u00e9j\u00e0 mes recettes dans une version am\u00e9ricaine depuis les d\u00e9buts du blog. Eh oui, en cuisine aussi mon cerveau est bilingue (trilingue si l&#8217;on compte les unit\u00e9s su\u00e9doises, que je ma\u00eetrise moins cela dit).<\/p>\n<h3>7. Cupcake ATM : le distributeur de cupcakes !<\/h3>\n<p>Cupcake + ATM = cupcake ATM. Oui vous ne r\u00eavez pas, c&#8217;est bien r\u00e9el \u00e0 Chicago et c&#8217;est une exp\u00e9rience assez incroyable. Comme \u00e0 la banque, vous vous rendez au distributeur, commandez le ou les cupcakes de votre choix, introduisez votre carte bancaire pour payer, et une fois votre commande valid\u00e9e, l&#8217;\u00e9cran de votre ATM vous montre une petite vid\u00e9o de votre cupcake qui est en route sur son tapis roulant. La trappe de l&#8217;ATM s&#8217;ouvre alors, et comme par magie votre cupcake arrive devant vous, joliement pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 dans une petite bo\u00eete en carton. Manger sainement aux \u00c9tats Unis : mission impossible ?<\/h3>\n<p>Pas du tout ! Vous pouvez parfaitement adopter des habitudes saines aux \u00c9tats Unis, mais cela implique un peu de discipline car il est facile de c\u00e9der \u00e0 la tentation d&#8217;un donut \u00e0 emporter, d&#8217;un gros burger bien gras ou tout simplement de craquer pour une boisson Starbucks sur le chemin du travail, comme de nombreux am\u00e9ricains le font (ces boissons sont pleines de sucres, sachez-le). Si ce sujet vous int\u00e9resse, je pourrai d\u00e9velopper davantage dans un prochain article, mais pour l&#8217;heure, je vous conseillerais simplement quelques r\u00e8gles de base, comme : restecter les 10 commandements au supermarch\u00e9 \u00e9nonc\u00e9s ci-dessus, prendre le temps de faire de vraies pauses repas, \u00e9viter les snacks (je suis moi m\u00eame un tr\u00e8s mauvais exemple pour cela, je l&#8217;avoue), et bien s\u00fbr bouger autant que possible plut\u00f4t que de prendre la voiture ou les transports en commun pour de petites distance. Je fais en moyenne entre 5 et 12k de marche par jour juste \u00e0 faire des petits d\u00e9placements de la vie de tous les jours et sans penser exercice physique pour autant. Donc rassurez-vous si vous venez d&#8217;emm\u00e9nager aux US ou pr\u00e9voyez de le faire, vous ne deviendrez pas forc\u00e9ment un &#8220;couch potato&#8221;! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<h3>9. Cuisine et voyages aux US<\/h3>\n<p>En un an aux US, j&#8217;ai eu l&#8217;occasion de parcourir un peu le pays (pas assez \u00e0 mon go\u00fbt) et de faire des exp\u00e9riences culinaires int\u00e9ressantes, certaines agr\u00e9ablement surprenantes, certaines absolument \u00e9pouvantables, notamment sur les routes. S&#8217;arr\u00eater dans une station essence aux US est souvent le pire que l&#8217;on puisse trouver !<\/p>\n<p>Heureusement certaines exp\u00e9riences \u00e9taient bien plus enrichissantes sur le plan gastronomique, comme par exemple\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saxonandparole.com\/\">Saxon and Parole<\/a>\u00a0 \u00e0 New York, o\u00f9 j&#8217;ai pu tester ce que l&#8217;on appelle &#8220;the Impossible Burger&#8221;, le seul burger v\u00e9g\u00e9tarien qui ressemble en visuel, en texture et en odeur \u00e0 du boeuf (pardonnez-moi la photo iPhone ci-dessous, de m\u00e9diocre qualit\u00e9 et prise \u00e0 la tomb\u00e9e de la nuit). \u00c0 tester une fois dans sa vie. Et pour une exp\u00e9rience culinaire rare et pr\u00e9cieuse, le restaurant\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mandarinoriental.com\/fine-dining?kw=MOLAS_twist&amp;htl=MOLAS&amp;eng=google&amp;src=local\">Twist<\/a>\u00a0du chef francais \u00e9toil\u00e9 Pierre Gagnaire \u00e0 Las Vegas m&#8217;a compl\u00e8tement \u00e9poustoufl\u00e9e. Combien de Deep Dish Pizzas ai-je mang\u00e9 ?<\/h3>\n<p>Chicago est la ville de la fameuse Deep Dish Pizza ! Nombreux seront tent\u00e9s ici de d\u00e9battre de s&#8217;il s&#8217;agit vraiment d&#8217;une pizza ou non, dans la mesure o\u00f9 la deep dish est tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rente de la pizza italienne en tous points. Pour ma part je n&#8217;entrerai pas dans le d\u00e9bat, car j&#8217;adore la deep dish. Contrairement \u00e0 la pizza classique, une deep dish est r\u00e9alis\u00e9e d&#8217;une p\u00e2te fine et croustillante avec des rebords, puis garnie de g\u00e9n\u00e9reuses couches de fromage, et de sauce tomate, donnant \u00e0 l&#8217;ensemble un aspect qui s&#8217;apparente plus \u00e0 une quiche qu&#8217;\u00e0 une pizza. D&#8217;autres garnitures peuvent d&#8217;ajouter, comme de la saucisse italienne coup\u00e9e en rondelles dans le fond de la tarte, mais vous pouvez aussi l&#8217;appr\u00e9cier dans sa version purement v\u00e9g\u00e9tarienne.<\/p>\n<p>J&#8217;ai test\u00e9 de tr\u00e8s nombreuses deep dish pizzas depuis que j&#8217;ai emm\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 Chicago. Je ne peux m\u00eame pas les compter. Vous l&#8217;aurez compris, j&#8217;aime les deep dish, et ma pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9e de la ville va \u00e0 celle de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loumalnatis.com\/\">Lou Malnati&#8217;s<\/a> dont j&#8217;adore la p\u00e2te notamment. D&#8217;autres tr\u00e8s bonnes adresses de deep dish reconnues comptent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginoseast.com\/\">Gino&#8217;s<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/giordanos.com\/\">Giordano&#8217;s<\/a> (qui n&#8217;est pas du tout ma pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9e) ou encore <a href=\"https:\/\/pequodspizza.com\/\">Pequod&#8217;s<\/a> (que je n&#8217;ai pas encore test\u00e9). Bon, et maintenant, o\u00f9 est la recette ? Eh bien je suis justement en train d&#8217;y travailler et elle sera en lige sur le blog ce mercredi 16 ao\u00fbt.
