Aussi, j&#8217;ai d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de commencer une s\u00e9rie de billets d&#8217;humeur sur mes aventures culinaires\u00a0\u00e0 Chicago, o\u00f9 je partagerai avec vous de temps \u00e0 autres mes derni\u00e8res exp\u00e9riences culinaires. Embarquez avec moi pour Chicago (et autour), et partageons ensemble ces voyages gourmands !<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Les premi\u00e8res semaines, c&#8217;\u00e9tait bien s\u00fbr pour moi le moment de la d\u00e9couverte de la ville. Comme nous avons la chance de vivre dans le centre, tout est accessible \u00e0 pied ou en v\u00e9lo. D&#8217;ailleurs, la quasi int\u00e9gralit\u00e9 de mes d\u00e9placements sont effectu\u00e9s \u00e0 v\u00e9lo jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent (j&#8217;ai d\u00fb prendre le m\u00e9tro une douzaine de fois tout au plus). Dans cette ville o\u00f9 la voiture est reine, faire du v\u00e9lo est bien moins agr\u00e9able qu&#8217;\u00e0 Stockholm. D&#8217;ailleurs, il m&#8217;arrive encore en v\u00e9lo de traverser une 5 voies en utilisant le passage pi\u00e9tons. Mais j&#8217;ai \u00e9galement commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 me faire ma culture am\u00e9ricaine, en allant voir le Magicien d&#8217;Oz dans un cin\u00e9ma ext\u00e9rieur (premi\u00e8re fois que je vois le film &#8211; mon copain n&#8217;en revient toujours pas), j&#8217;ai fait du kayak lors du coucher du soleil sur la Chicago River avec une vue imprenable sur les gratte ciels de la ville, j&#8217;ai couru sur la 606 &#8211; Bloomingdale Trail avec un groupe de running. Et puis j&#8217;ai aussi pris un petit d\u00e9jeuner en amoureux sur l&#8217;herbe le long du lac, mang\u00e9 une deep dish pizza, et suis all\u00e9e \u00e0 l&#8217;Institut d&#8217;Art de Chicago voir une exposition sur l&#8217;Am\u00e9rique apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9clin : peintures des ann\u00e9es 1930 (j&#8217;ai tout particuli\u00e8rement aim\u00e9 le tableau Thanksgiving, r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par Doris Lee).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En explorants les diff\u00e9rents march\u00e9s &#8220;Farmers markets&#8221;, je suis tomb\u00e9e sous le charme de celui de Lincoln Park. Et puis bien s\u00fbr je me suis immerg\u00e9e dans la culture culinaire am\u00e9ricaine (ce qui me rappelle mon sujet de TPE en Terminale, jadis: la mondialisation du mod\u00e8le alimentaire am\u00e9ricain&#8230; si j&#8217;avais su \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9poque!), essayant de trouver mes rep\u00e8res dans les supermarch\u00e9s am\u00e9ricains. J&#8217;aurais d\u00e9j\u00e0 beaucoup \u00e0 dire sur le sujet, peut \u00eatre devrais-je y consacrer un article entier&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Au milieu de toute cette nouveaut\u00e9, j&#8217;ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9diger des articles culinaires pour la newsletter de French in Chicago. Mon tout premier article portait sur les meilleurs doughnuts de Chicago &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.frenchinchicago.com\/chicago-en-quete-du-doughnut-parfait\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago: en qu\u00eate du doughnut parfait<\/a>&#8221; &#8211; et comme vous vous en doutez s\u00fbrement, il m&#8217;a donc fallu en go\u00fbter pas mal ! Sans surprise, je prends beaucoup de plaisir \u00e0 \u00eatre auteure culinaire et j&#8217;ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 plein d&#8217;id\u00e9es pour les prochaines newsletters. Dans les autres projets &#8220;foodie&#8221;, j&#8217;ai \u00e9galement tourn\u00e9 une petite vid\u00e9o culinaire pour une entreprise agroalimentaire, une aventure tr\u00e8s sympa, et il me tarde de partager la recette avec vous. Ne me lassant jamais de la cuisine, je me suis aussi laiss\u00e9e tenter par un cours de cuisine am\u00e9ricaine \u00e0 partir des r\u00e9coltes d&#8217;automne. J&#8217;ai ainsi pass\u00e9 quelques jours \u00e0 D\u00e9troit, une ville fortement marqu\u00e9e par le contraste entre son pass\u00e9 prosp\u00e8re et son d\u00e9clin qui a suivi. Parfois les deux se voient simultan\u00e9ment dans la m\u00eame rue. L\u00e0 bas, j&#8217;ai pu assister par pur hasard \u00e0 mon tout premier match de baseball (les White Socks contre les Tigers) &#8211; on m&#8217;a offert un ticket gratuit alors que je passais devant le stade au moment du match. D\u00e9troit jouant contre Chicago, je ne pouvais pas refuser. Mon take-away sous le bras, je suis donc all\u00e9e voir le match, luttant pour comprendre les r\u00e8gles de jeu. Heureusement, j&#8217;ai pu voir un autre match \u00e0 Chicago la semaine suivante, histoire de m&#8217;y mettre un peu mieux (j&#8217;y ai d&#8217;ailleurs eu ma pire exp\u00e9rience de junk food am\u00e9ricaine jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent &#8211; un burger v\u00e9g\u00e9tarien litt\u00e9ralement immangeable). \u00c0 D\u00e9troit en revanche, j&#8217;ai pu go\u00fbter une cuisine moderne et savoureuse dans un <em>speakeasy<\/em>, et ai pour le fun attrap\u00e9 un doughnut chez Donutville avant de reprendre le chemin du retour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">J&#8217;ai \u00e9galement eu la chance de passer les deux derni\u00e8res semaines \u00e0 faire de la randonn\u00e9e et du camping dans le sud-ouest am\u00e9ricain, parcourant les grands parcs nationaux entre l&#8217;Utah, l&#8217;Arizona et le Nevada. Une aventure absolument exceptionnelle : le Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon (\u00e9oustouflant!), Antelope Canyon, le Grand Canyon de part et d&#8217;autre (North &amp; South Rim), et bien s\u00fbr Monument Valley (Wow). La plupart de nos repas \u00e9taient donc des pique-niques pr\u00e9par\u00e9s pour nos randos dans des bagels, ou des barbecues faits au feu de bois le soir. Et feu de bois veut dire&#8230; s&#8217;mores ! Oh oui, il fallait absolument tester et on s&#8217;en est donn\u00e9s \u00e0 coeur joie, renouvelant l&#8217;exp\u00e9rience plusieurs fois. Ayant mang\u00e9 chichement tout le temps du voyage, nous nous sommes cette fois-ci autoris\u00e9s le restaurant Twist by Pierre Gagnaire &#8211; un chef francais qui a gagn\u00e9 trois \u00e9toiles Michelin pour son restaurant \u00e9ponyme \u00e0 Paris. Il va de soi que j&#8217;ai beaucoup aim\u00e9 ce concept de cuisine fusion avec un twist. Les plats \u00e9taient tous plus exceptionnels les uns que les autres, et chaque bouch\u00e9e mettait tous nos sens en \u00e9veil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Retour \u00e0 la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 le jour suivant toutefois, puisque nous avons d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de faire don de nos extras de provisions du camping \u00e0 une banque alimentaire, avant de repartir pour Chicago. \u00c0 seulement 10 minutes en voiture du Vegas \u00e9tincelant que l&#8217;on conna\u00eet, nous nous sommes retrouv\u00e9s dans des rues jonch\u00e9es de mendiants et autres invalides. Nous avons aussit\u00f4t regrett\u00e9 de ne pas avoir pris davantage de provisions avec nous. Cela nous a n\u00e9nmoins permis de prendre pleinement conscience de cette r\u00e9alit\u00e9 d&#8217;un\u00a0monde \u00e0 deux vitesses\u00a0\u00e0 Las Vegas (encore plus qu&#8217;ailleurs), une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 que l&#8217;on ne vous dit pas et que je souhaitais partager avec vous ici.
