Cette\u00a0nouvelle exp\u00e9rience de vie me r\u00e9jouit, m\u00eame si j&#8217;ai toujours un peu de mal \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser vraiment. Le soleil est au\u00a0beau fixe et les temp\u00e9ratures sont parfaitement estivales,\u00a0comme c&#8217;est le cas depuis mon arriv\u00e9e il y a exactement 7 jours.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Avant d&#8217;aller plus loin, permettez moi de faire un petit voyage dans le temps pour vous expliquer comment tout cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 possible. Comme vous le savez, je vivais jusqu&#8217;aux derni\u00e8res nouvelles \u00e0 Stockholm en Su\u00e8de, o\u00f9 j&#8217;ai pass\u00e9 les six derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es et demie de ma vie, ensemble avec mon copain David. Mais l&#8217;an dernier en Octobre 2015, David a eu l&#8217;opportunit\u00e9 de s&#8217;expatrier \u00e0 Chicago pour le travail. L&#8217;id\u00e9e du blog \u00e9tait simple : chaque jour, je publierais une &#8220;photo du jour&#8221; de Stockholm, tandis que David en plublierait une de Chicago (ou de toute autre ville o\u00f9 nous nous trouverions alors, en cas de d\u00e9placements professionnels et autres voyages).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pendant pr\u00e8s d&#8217;un an, nous avons ainsi partag\u00e9 les meilleurs clich\u00e9s de nos tr\u00e8s ch\u00e8res villes, jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 ce que finalement j&#8217;emm\u00e9nage \u00e0 mon tour \u00e0 Chicago le 9 ao\u00fbt dernier. Soit plus de 400 photos au total. En mati\u00e8re de donuts, je peux me montrer particuli\u00e8rement pointilleuse, et j&#8217;avoue avoir avec une tr\u00e8s large pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence pour\u00a0le donut que l&#8217;on qualifie de <em>old-fashioned<\/em> (dont la consistance se rapproche plus de celle d&#8217;un g\u00e2teau) par rapport au donut classique (avec une texture plus proche\u00a0de celle du beignet). Intrigu\u00e9e par ces deux versions radicalement oppos\u00e9es, j&#8217;ai alors entrepris quelques recherches et ai d\u00e9couvert que la\u00a0diff\u00e9rence relevait du type de levure utilis\u00e9e (fra\u00eeche pour le donut classique, chimique pour le second). On dit que la pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence pour l&#8217;un ou l&#8217;autre donut est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement li\u00e9e \u00e0 nos go\u00fbts pendant l&#8217;enfance, th\u00e9orie qui confirme mon choix du donut <em>old-fashioned<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, j&#8217;ai identifi\u00e9 3 magasins de donuts que je recommande particuli\u00e8rement. La premi\u00e8re adresse,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/doughnutvault.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Doughnuts Vault<\/a>, est une toute petite boutique qui brise le coeur de tous les amoureux de donuts, puisqu&#8217;elle en produit une quantit\u00e9 limit\u00e9e par jour (l&#8217;heure de fermeture de la boutique correspond au dernier donut vendu). Il vous faut donc arriver de bonne heure pour avoir la chance d&#8217;y go\u00fbter&#8230; ou alors revenir le jour suivant &#8211; et croyez-moi, l&#8217;attente ici vaut le coup ! La deuxi\u00e8me adresse que je recommande est\u00a0Glazed &amp; Infused. Je vous conseille tout particuli\u00e8rement d&#8217;y tester ses donuts en version <em>old-fashioned<\/em> glac\u00e9s \u00e0 la vanille. Allez \u00e9galement faire un tour chez\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/firecakesdonuts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Firecake<\/a>, une petit magasin de donuts qui offre des parfums tr\u00e8s originaux et absolument divins (j&#8217;ai test\u00e9 un mini donut fourr\u00e9 avec une cr\u00e8me espresso, une exp\u00e9rience des plus gourmandes !). Samedi dermier, alors que je me promenais dans le quartier de Lincoln Park au nord de Chicago (un quartier tr\u00e8s charmant et agr\u00e9able), je suis tomb\u00e9e sur un r\u00eave : la boutique\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.readitandeatstore.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read It &amp; Eat Store<\/a>\u00a0(ou magasin &#8220;Lis et mange&#8221;). En d&#8217;autres termes, il s&#8217;agit d&#8217;une petite librairie sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans les livres de cuisine et qui met \u00e0 disposition en son centre une cuisine gigantesque, utilis\u00e9e pour des ateliers et autres \u00e9v\u00e9nements (d\u00e9dicaces de livres, etc.).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">J&#8217;ai aussit\u00f4t demand\u00e9 de plus amples informations, et pas plus tard que le\u00a0lendemain, j&#8217;\u00e9tais de retour sur le lieu pour un \u00e9v\u00e9nement <em>Food Swap<\/em> coupl\u00e9 d&#8217;une d\u00e9dicace de livre par Emily Paster, la fondatrice de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagofoodswap.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Food Swap<\/a> et auteure du livre intitul\u00e9 \u00e9galement\u00a0<em>Food Swap<\/em>, qui en explique les m\u00e9canismes. Comme son nom l&#8217;indique, un \u00e9v\u00e9nement food swap implique que chaque invit\u00e9 apporte deux mini portions (ou plus) d&#8217;une recette fa\u00eete maison et l&#8217;\u00e9change contre deux autres cr\u00e9ations culinaires\u00a0pr\u00e9par\u00e9es par d&#8217;autres invit\u00e9s pr\u00e9sents. Pour l&#8217;occasion, j&#8217;ai eu le temps de pr\u00e9parer rapidement mon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delscookingtwist.com\/fr\/2015\/10\/25\/easy-chocolate-granola\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">granola au chocolat<\/a>, recette tr\u00e8s facile \u00e0 laquelle j&#8217;avais ajout\u00e9 des noix de p\u00e9can et des canneberges, et je suis revenue \u00e0 la maison avec un joli petit pot de confit d&#8217;oignons rouges ainsi qu&#8217;une barre de <em>cookie dough<\/em> au beurre de cacahu\u00e8te et aux bretzels. Somme toute, le food swap est une exp\u00e9rience tr\u00e8s ludique que je recommande.
