Perfect healthy avocado smoothie bowl that does not taste greens at all!

Green avocado smoothie bowl

What if we tried a healthy green smoothie bowl that actually doesn’t taste greens at all? To me, healthy food must always taste as good as your favorite food. Challenge accepted!

The idea of this green smoothie bowl in its exotic version came up to my mind a few weeks ago while listening to the famous French cooking program radio “On va déguster“, that I enjoy to follow every Sunday morning on France Inter.

This time, the program was all about coconut, this fantastic fruit that can make miracles in the kitchen in many ways: you can replace milk with coconut milk, butter with coconut butter, oil (and ban definitely palm oil from your diet) with coconut oil, sugar with coconut sugar, flour with coconut flour, or you can simply add some extra crunchiness to your food with coconut flakes or chips.

On my blog you can find a bunch of lovely recipes with coconut. Try for example the Raw coconut mango cheesecake, the Acai pecan chia pudding, the easy chocolate granola, or the raspberry coconut milk smoothie… Good thing: all of them are actually healthy!

Today I add one more to the list with this green smoothie bowl with avocado. When listening to this radio program about coconut, the guest Suzy Palatin – who is actually a former model who grew up in Guadeloupe – mentioned very briefly a lovely sweet treat that she loves to prepare for herself: an avocado smoothie with some coconut milk and lime.

I immediately loved the idea and worked on a recipe, and that’s how this smoothie bowl is born. I would recommend you to enjoy it for breakfast, but it can also be a perfect healthy snack and even a dessert (actually I tried it for the 3 occasions and it worked equally good).

With very little sugar, this smoothie bowl is however a good source of healthy fat, the one that has a positive impact on your good cholesterol. We sometimes tend to ban healthy fat from our diet, which is a huge mistake. With more calories, healthy fats will however not make you gain weight but they will instead keep you full for a couple of hours, and prevent you from some huge cravings in between two frugal meals that often create frustration and make you more vulnerable to unhealthy snacks.

So now, what does this green smoothie really taste like? The first thing you will notice is the softness of its texture, and a slightly sweet taste (just as much as you need). Then what you will like in this smoothie bowl is definitely its exotic touch: the combination between lime and coconut is just perfect thanks to the use of the avocado as well, although it doesn’t taste avocado. You can top this smoothie with whatever topping you make like, but I really enjoy the raspberries that bring some vitamin C and pair so well with coconut. I like cashew nuts a lot, but you can also replace them with some chia seed if desired. Add a little touch of coconut chips for a perfect exotic morning that will take you to these fantastic and dreamy islands where we would all love to go…
